November 2, 2023 – Over the past few weeks, a new Dutch TV-series called Cybersessies AI, in collaboration with Kickstart AI, highlighted the positive impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the Netherlands and innovative ways AI is used in Dutch companies. In Albert Heijn’s mini documentary, Noortje van Genugten, Director Analytics & Data Science at Albert Heijn, explains how our Dutch supermarket uses AI to reduce food waste. "AI is very important for Albert Heijn," says Noortje. "We have over 1,000 shops and over 15,000 items per shop, so we have 15 million shelves which need to be properly managed every day. With our mission to make better food available for everyone, we want to leave the world a better place. One way we do this is by reducing food waste, and AI plays a significant role in helping us achieve this.”
